Honey and Clover
Most everyone has heard of the anime called honey and clover.
So what is it? Is it shoujo? I don't know.
Personally, I can't classify it as shoujo.... its definitely not shounen, so I guess that makes it shoujo? I mean.... its not really a romance story, its not really an action, its not really a comedy. Its sort of a slice of life that reveals the deepest and darkest of our desires in the lightest and cheeriest way possible.
This anime is bitter sweet. Its funny, and lighthearted. But everyone can relate to the characters on a level that's completely different from any other show I've seen. Its heavy on the unrequited love, unfullfilled dreams, and about finding oneself. Everything about this story seems to touch too close to home in my opinion.
In other words, you feel like the main character (though its often difficult to tell who the main character is... I'm just going to appoint the normal guy as the main character.) But, everyone around you seems to be more talented than you, you don't know what you're doing with your life, or where you're going with it, you feel empty inside. But even though all those people around you are seemingly better than you, they also have lots and lots of their own problems....
Anyways, Honey and Clover throws perspective onto the playing field of the life of young adults. A must check out!

see, that's what I thought... but then I watched it and i'm not so sure anymore......
I mean school rumble is a slice of life anime... this is .... ALMOST a slice of life anime...

School Rumble is Slice of Life, School Comedy anime.
I watched an episode of it. Didn't like it, not tooooo fond of slap-stick.

if you tell me that you dispise having three or four or ten girls in love with you, who will be willing to be at your beck and call.... i simply will not believe you.

Ugh, having a bunch of girls at my beck and call is not what I call fun. It is a bit depraving to the girls for one thing, a bit of an insult to life (live only to serve?) and it's just too B-O-R-I-N-G (where's the fun in an obedient person?).
Harem is annoying because the ratio is whacked! I prefer 1 on 1 vs. 10+ on 1, makes it THAT much more personal.
