Tax

Here's some food for thought.

(tried to make this as easy sounding as possible without losing the "huh, that's fucked up" feeling of the content")

Preamble:
You have an income. You have to pay tax on it. It's called income tax. There are certain things that you can subtract from the income (called expenses) to make your income seem smaller so you can pay less tax. One of the things you CANNOT subtract is transportation to and from work, since that's considered a personal expenses and not a business expense. However, if you own a company, and you travel a lot due to your job (going to client site, business trips etc), that can be subtracted from income.

The funny part:
If you're a disabled person, who spends a LOT of money trying to get to and from work every day, you can't subtract that from your income.

If you are a doctor who has an office in his home, and also does clinic duties at the local hospital, the travel between his home and the hospital can be subtracted.

Fair?

  • Well that's a sick and cruel world we live in.
